Summer is over and I wish I fished more this year.  In retrospect,  one of the best days I had was not catching one fish–the day I spent at the Palmer Ranch in Alberta fishing for large cruising fish in shallow ponds.   The epiphany of the day was , “I think I need a small compact expandable net to take with me when fish get this large”.   So many years of not taking a net since I haven’t killed a trout in years,  still I think that it would have been nice to get the trout  into a net and examine it more closely before releasing it.
