Mauii 2010 Surf Fishing with the Big Boys

I planned two fishing trips to the St Mary’s this year and this was the week I was leaving on the first trip.  Two weeks ago, my daughter pointed out that this would be the only week that we could go on a vacation together with the summer coming to an end with CAL  semester starting in a week.   So off we went to the Ali’i on Mauii for a week (room 4103 overlooking the Kanapali Golf Course 17th Hole).  What a great trip!  Mark and I played Golf,  We snorkled at  Molokini with the Pacific Whale Foundation,  hiked at 10,000 ft around the  Haleakala Volcanoe and ran into Irena and her family in  Wailea where we shared dinner at Sansei Sushi.  Also , for the first time, I brought surf fishing equipment to Mauii and tried my luck in the Harbor with some success.  The activities coordinator at the Ali’i was terrific and helped us book sunset reservations at  Merriman’s, the Hula Grill  and Leilani’s.  Again this trip we ran out of time to check out Hana.  With as many times as we have been here,  we have always put that off for the next trip!  I guess I just dont like the idea of winding roads for 6 hours but someone told me the fishing is great over there and its close our favorite restaurant–Mama’s Fish House.  Something to look forward to next year.
