Lisbon Portugal. May 8 – May10. 2023
Lisbon is Portugal’s hilly, coastal capital city and is known for its unique historical center, stunning architecture, colorful azulejos (ceramic tiles), and fantastic food. It also has a fascinating history, filled with rulers, invasions, destructions, and re-constructions. The cities iconic bridge – The Ponte 25 de Abril suspension bridge– is nearly a duplicate of the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge. Standing above the city across the delta stands the 350 ft tall Sanctuary of Christ the King Statue, The statue was a gift from Brazil and is a duplicate of the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro.
We booked three days at the Lisbon Sofitel located in the heart of the city. To get a feel for the city, we hired a young lady named Katarina to tour us around for a couple hours in a tuck tuck. She showed us most of the city and we decided to visit a couple of the places by foot over the next couple days.
