Mia goes Ivy League, Mark gets his Geek on…

220px-ColumbiaNYUCoat_svgYesterday, a landmark day in my daughters career – acceptance to Columbia University’s  Masters Program.  One of the premier masters programs in Nutrition in the country.  Its off to New York before the end of the year.  Congratulations to our Ivy League bound daughter.   My sister and brother in law live not 15 minutes from Campus and we are so lucky to have family close to her next year.  Looks like her senior research project at University of California Berkeley may have legs in New York at Columbia.

NSCS-logo-mainMark , who is also doing well with a 3.7 at University  of Oregon , was recently nominated to join The National Society of Collegiate Scholars.  Fewer than 10% of students at University of Oregon qualify for membership and of those, membership conferred by invitation only after review by the NSCS admissions Committee.   Good job Mark.  Aside from being the only freshman hired to work for the residential computer support for students and faculty,  he recently received a job offer from SCRIBE to learn and teach a medical software package to physicians at the local hospital.  He is currently working on his EMT Certification while completing his first year premed curriculum.
