This years drought seems to have invigorated the grapes in the vineyard. The vines have exploded with growth this month and it looks like its going to be great year. Even the roses are collapsing from the weight of roses. This weekend we will start thinning out the vines to see if we can force the fruit higher on the plants and improve the quality of the grapes. It will be interesting to prune the grapes this early in the growing season. Out seedless table grape row also seems to be thriving unlike the last two years. I turned the sprinklers off all winter and the grapes don’t seem starved for water despite the really low rainfall totals.
