The Crestliner

Recently my search for a two man fishing boat that “the boss” sais has to fit in the garage or no go,  came to an end with the purchase of a used Crestliner Angler 14.  The boat was is good condition by for a gadget guy like me, not good enough.  The reconstruction and restoration…

The Syn FISHOUT at Bidwell Ponds

Flyfishing with my kids. neices and nephews is on the top ten list of greatest things to doand our trip to the Wilderness Unlimited Bidwell Ponds was perfect.  Conditions were great for the first ever Wayne and Meng Syn family fishout.  Three words to describe the trip “Party Boat Action”  as wayne and I unhooked…

Uncle Yun proves once again that its better to be lucky than skillfull.  Last weekend, my cousing Dr Keneth Tan and I tried our flyfishing skills out on the trout of Smith Creek Ranch.  Our Group stayed in the lodge near the lake and consisted of Wayne Syn, Yun Syn, Keneth Tan and myself.  Our…

Taste of Chicago 2008

Its been nearly ten years since we revisited the old neighborhood in Downtown Chicago.  A kidless week revisiting those places that were so familair to us was refreshing and rejuvinating.  I forgot how many people actually show up for Taste of Chicago until they closed the streets around Grant Park to let the partiers exit…

Christmas Island 2008

It seems so familair.  I have never returned to Christmas Island in Kirabati on two consecutive years.  Last year we were told, “You dont want to come to Christmas Island right after the full moon because the fishing is too easy and the fish are too big.”  Personally, I like easy and big and so…

El Salto Lodge

Whats better than taking your son out of school to go fishing in Mexico for a week? Nuthin’. This mid school year expedition took place near Mazatlan at a lake called El Salto, home of the next world record largemouth bass. This trip was special in that my cousin Wayne and my Uncle Yun were…

In Memory of my dad…

On  July 31st  2006,  my father passed away from complications during heart surgery to repair a regurgitating mitral valve at Kaiser Hospital in San Francisco.  He was 79 years old and had been suffering from congestive heart failure for months prior to the surgery.   He is missed  and we think of him often. In Memory…
