This Christmas was another great one for Gina and I having our kids home for the Holidays. We especially enjoyed Kimmie the dog for the last couple weeks and it reminded us of when we had a dog in the house over 20 years ago. The outdoor christmas displays created by PHS Greenleaf gave…
There are some flyfishing friends that I have known almost my whole life and Dorothy Zinky is one of those friends. Today we fished the Oneill Forebay together and had great day. The solonar tables predicted a 9:30AM peak and the three star nearly windless day, but last weeks heavy rains and the really cold…
The Fly of Choice in the Delta last week was a Chartreuse 5 1/2 in Clouser. Steve likes them, and I like what he likes. I thought I would take this weekend to replenish my flies. I also like this fly in San Luis, and caught some personal best stripers on it. The recipe is…
The forebay was empty today except for me and Tubin’ Louie. I finally met Tim Anderson a couple weeks ago fishing with Luke Sing and it was a meeting long overdue. Ive seen him on the lake for years and he fishes the forebay almost weekly. After exchanging phone numbers with him, we ended…
I sure enjoy fishing with Captain Steve Santucci and especially with a great boat partner like Dan. It was a refreshing day especially after yesterdays blow out. I thought I might get that 20 lbr today but ended up with an 8 lbr and a couple of 5s. Dan also got a couple of…
This weekend, my good friend Dan Dee from Ennis Montana and I arranged a day on the Delta with our mutual friend and Guide Steve Santucci. Last week, Steve suggested we move our day from Friday to Saturday because of weather. As late as yesterday, my weather sources suggested it might turn out to be…
Today, I had the pleasure of introducing Luke Sing to Striper Fishing Oneill Forebay style. We had a short day launching at 10:30 in the morning and returning at 2:30. We managed over 20 fish despite the intermittent sprinkles, wind and cloud cover. The fish were aggressive today and Luke had action all afternoon with…
For years I thought that I could improve my golf score by buying expensive drivers I felt that feeling of anticipation as I unboxed my newest Fly Rod acquisition – The Echo Boost Beach 8wgt. The Boost Beach is a 12ft 2inch overhead casting two handed rod developed by Tim Rajeff for overhead casting…
After two days of rain and more on the way, I took the opportunity today to fish the only dry day of the week. I had fished this kind of weather in the past with great success and I had a feeling that I was due for a big fish on the lake today.…
With the election of Trump, some of the smaller proposition results have flown under the radar as to the long term impact to fishing as we know it in the California Delta and ocean. Proposition 53 -The California Voter Approval Requirement for Revenue Bonds above $2 Billion Initiative- would have given Northern California a say…
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner…. Hall of Loosers…. Last week I received one of the rare Mavic Pro Drones forom my preorder made hours after its announcement. I ordered directly from DJI. The Mavic Drone is the newest generation of 4k video drones made by DJI. It has all the capabilities of the Phantom…
Back in the 80s, I worked with a bunch of talented kids on the WINAMP project. Little did they know that they would be the catalyst to an explosion of computer and internet technology escallation that continues to this day. At one time, 2/3rd of all the internet bandwith in the world was trading…
I only have a couple fishing days left on San Luis this November and I’m remembering last Novembers phenomenal luck landing 3 fish over 20 lbs in the main lake. I haven’t had much luck this month on the main lake having fished it three days without a big fish only to retreat to the…
I like fishing on Friday since Saturdays are usually pretty busy. When I pulled up to the boat ramp at the Oneill Forebay , I was surprised to see 20 boats had beaten me out. Then I remembered it was Veterans Day. I spent the last week struggling with the decision to fish the delta…
Seems like yesterday Steph Curry couldn’t hit a single 3 point shot. Things looked pretty bad when his 157 game streak of three point shots came to an end against the Lakers a couple days ago. I had to skip my daily slot games to drive Oracle from San Jose last night – it was…
Steve and I spent the day fishing Oneill Forebay today on what turned out to be a spectacular day. There were lots of fly fishermen on the lake today. Ken Oda and Mark Won were on the lake as well as a dozen other regulars working every corner of the lake. Steve and I started…
What was hyped as the Durant Westbrook showdown boxing match turned into a Warriors Rout. It took an hour and a half to get to Oracle Arena after our last patient on Thursday and we got to our seats to see the warriors down by 10 points with a technical foul being called on Green.…
Alas, my lovable loosing Cubs have won the world series in the most dramatic fashion possible – 7th game, 10th inning, lead loosing, one run victory with a rain delay and away. What has to be the most fantastic series in my lifetime and I’ve attended 4 world series’, the best game ever was from…
This weeks solonar tables looked the opposite of last weeks and I though maybe this is the day I get that 30 lbr but the only thing resembling 30 lbs today was a carp that was snagged by Steve’s Friend Harris. Interesting enough, Ive only seen two carp that big snagged with a fly and…
The Cubs Finally made it to the World Series and Monkeys have not flown out of my Butt. The good old Cubs are not losers anymore and they dont SUCK! After moving back to the land of the Giants over 30 years ago, I still remember those winless bleacher seat games in lightless Wrigley back…
