To the bump up the quality of my video camera work for my fishing videos, Ive been looking at steadycams for a long time. Most of the gravity rigs were expensive and heavy. They were not really practical to carry when traveling. But since HQ video cameras are now the size of a GoPro or…
The first Striper day of the New Year on O’Neill Forebay was a bust. I fished from 8am to 2pm and got only one hit which I missed. I looked for the fish in some new places today. I tried the really shallow flats and the mid lake trenches and I only spotted one…
I called it last week. The Refs, in an obvious way, screwed the Niners out of the Superbowl. Unbelievable. When one play in the last 20 seconds of a game determines the winner, every bad call is momentum changing. Upon replay, there was no doubt whatsoever that the calls were wrong! Gene Steratore and…
It seems everytime the 49rs have lost a playoff game in the last three years, its was because of a bad call by a referee. I call conspiracy to keep the 49rs out of the playoffs. So many bad calls in the red zone in the last couple years that it seems obvious. A ref…
Congratulations to the Niners for pulling off the spectacular win over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in the Freezing Cold. The more I watch football, the more I realize how it is actually a game of inches and not yards…. As I watched Phil Dawsons’s last second field goal barely clear the right…
I thought by today I would have been on the lake at least a couple times this week but the swine flue knocked me down over the Christmas Break. I managed to make it to the lake today and I renewed my California State Parks “Golden Poppy” Vehicle Day Use and Launch Annual Pass>…
This year’s Christmas was unique for a few major reasons–the absence of our annual Luminaria Tradition and the fact that both kids had to fly home fro distant locations to be with us. New York and Eugene were incredibly cold over the holidays and both kids were happy to be back in the warmth…
There is some talk about raising the height of San Luis Reservoir 20 feet which would increase its capacity 130,000 acre feet (enough water for half a million people for a year). Just like the controversy over raising Shasta Dam, environmentalists and water experts propose that increasing the capacities of Dams in California is much…
Time flies when you hang with toddlers. Especially when you remember when they were born. Ken and Erin Long are our favorite Parents with Toddlers. Today was Kaitlyn’s 45th Birthday and they held it at a Gymnastics Club just like we use to do with Mia! I bet her husband has already picked out his…
Christmas is only a couple weeks away, the tile in the entry way is being upgraded, next week is our annual office Christmas Party and we still don’t have a tree a week into December. After a full schedule of patient this morning, we decided to make a run to the Santa Cruz mountains…
“..it is not happy people who are thankful, it is thankful people who are happy…” For the first time ever, Gina and I spent Thanksgiving with the kids in New York . It was a grand feast prepared by my sister in law’s family. Mark flew in from Oregon to join us and Mia brought…
I needed something to cheer me up after that Oregon Loss yesterday so I decided to give the lake a try in the morning. I won’t be able to fish it again for two weeks. I left the house at 5:45am and was on the lake at 7:00 am with the sun just coming over…
I was feeling the bad MOJO when I heard the comments from some key players last week that the Rose Bowl was no big deal. Comments like that never go without consequence and now the Ducks are out of the Rose Bowl Race beat by an unranked team. How sad that they self destructed…
USC did Oregon a solid last night in the the last minute of play by beating the ego out of Stanford with a game winning field goal. Did you hear it- the roar from Eugene last night at 8:15 PM? How appropriate that Stanford gets upset like that only a few weeks after pulling off…
Its been two weeks since I fished the Big Lake when it was on fire with 30 plus fish days. I was surprised at how slow the fishing was on the lake this Monday morning. I couldn’t find them. Maybe I was still in Redfishing mode, or maybe it was the bad Solonar tables which…
If I had seen a comparison of these two lenses a couple years ago, I would have laughed. It is indeed comparing apples to oranges but now that I am into the form factor, video wonderfulness, and practicality of Micro 4/3rds, its time to take a close look at the Lumix 7-14mm f4. The…
A team that got beat by Utah just crushed Oregon’s hopes of a Rose Bowl and a BCS championship. Marcus Mariota played the game with a Knee Brace with a MCL partial tear and his running game suffered the consequences. The power running game of Stanford appeared unstoppable in the first half with their offense…
I haven’t been as excited for a college Football game since Northwestern last went to the Rose Bowl in 1996. With 10 undefeated college teams left. The real football season starts on Thursday as ranked teams start weeding out the top 10. This Thursday night (6pm on ESPN), The Undefeated Oregon Ducks play Stanford in…
The first thing that crossed my mind when I saw this was “why in the world do we need to spend 10 million dollars to fluoridate water in Santa Clara Valley?”. As published in Yahoo finance. 1. San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, Calif. > Median household income: $90,737 > Population: 1,894,388 (32nd highest) > Unemployment rate:…
